There aren’t enough good words in the English language to describe this day. I’m going to try anyway. The first time I met with Hannah and Matt to discuss wedding photography, I knew we were going to be a great match for each other. Hannah mentioned having a “hippie” themed Tres Suenos vineyard wedding. Um, done. Count me in. Hannah is also a speech teacher (and we realized that we were at several of the same speech tournaments in high school). Anyone with a background in speech/debate/acting is already near and dear to my heart. Matt is going to be a math teacher, so we can’t really connect through professions (because I am 100% HORRIBLE at anything involving math), but Matt’s sense of humor and overall kindness would make anyone connect to him.
When I got to the venue, I was blown away immediately. 1) It’s at one of my favorite venues in Oklahoma–Tres Suenos Vineyard in Luther, OK. 2) I walked into the reception area and my jaw dropped. The amount of work that Hannah and Matt put into their decor and details was astounding. They thought of everything from using spools of thread, lightbulbs, and mason jars with photos of them inside as decor, to making their own flowers (some of them made with Scantron paper as a nod to Matt’s enjoyment of math), their grandmother making their cake (WHICH WAS SO BEAUTIFUL–one of the best cakes I’ve ever seen) to putting their engagement photos in between the glass panels of the windows just for that extra special touch. I can’t get over the details of this day.
Their ceremony was one of the most beautiful ones I’ve been to. They did a feet-washing part as well as planted a tree using soil from their homes. It was awesome. You can tell how much support they have from family and friends and how much they love each other and are giving themselves to each other.
During sunset, we snuck away for photos (if you hire me, you can bet on the fact that I’ll steal you away for 15 minutes during golden hour). We shot in a vineyard and under trees, in front of a stack of logs, and man, it was great.
I can’t say enough good things about their wedding or about them. They’re genuine, kind, and fun people and I’m happy to call them friends. I’ll shut up now. Enjoy the photos. INCREDIBLY IMAGE HEAVY BECAUSE I AM TERRIBLE AT PICKING FAVORITES.
